I was born in Bogotá, Colombia 2600 metres closer to the stars. Very far from the sea. I have a great passion for traveling and although I had travelled plenty by land and air it never occurred to me to travel by boat. And when I say travel by boat I’m talking long distance cruising, not just a small ferry ride or island hopping. Cruising on a very small boat that moves just with the wind.
In 2008, I decided to give a try and go sailing with Cedric (the Capitan) and Thira (36 foot, sloop). (You could read Gloria’s corner). The experience was amazing and I ended up sailing with them from Tonga to France, about 11000 miles. Something that I never even imagine was possible it is in fact an experience that changed my life. I am now a cruising sailor. I think cruising is travelling with your house and it is so special because it can bring you to remote locations not available by any other means of transport.
We finished the trip in 2009 and went back to live on land. I’m still a landlubber after all. Nevertheless, I keep the idea in mind that we will go sailing again.
Now, more than 10 years later we found “Happy Days” and managed to get everything in line to go back traveling with our house and continue discovering places.
On land, I’m an Engineer, Operations Manager and Project Manager. I’ve worked in 18 countries in 6 continents. Worked in multinational companies, National ones and in big and small projects.
In this blog, I’d like to share some of our experiences with family, sailors and friends.
If you happen to be sailing as well, we are always happy to share a drink a meal and share experiences come and see us.
PS: For my Operations Managers and engineer friends, after all “Happy Days Project” is being on planning phase for years, it has been successfully delivered and it is now business as usual!!!
